When rapper Travis Scott spoke to XXL this week, he revealed a bit more about his relationship with Kylie Jenner, how much he loves the child they share together, and his career post- Astroworld.
'I Love Her Mommy'
Jenner and Scott first started dating after they met at Coachella in 2017. Things progressed rapidly.
The two of them talked about it in a previous interview with GQ.
Jenner explained:
“Coachella was one of the stops on his tour. So [Travis] said, ‘I’m going back on tour—what do we want to do about this?’ Because we obviously liked each other.”
He says he'll "always" care about Jenner, even if they're not together. When it comes to Stormi, their daughter, Scott says, “I love her mommy and I always will."
The Timing Was Off
In the interview with XXL, Scott also said that "outside voices" contributed to their breakup: “The hard part about relationships is just trying to be in one without a million outside voices interfering."
In October, a source spoke to People about their split, saying Jenner claimed Scott wasn't giving her what she needed:
“He hasn’t been giving her the commitment that she needs. Travis isn’t ready to give her all that she wants.”
Stormi 'Inspires Me'
Regardless, it sounds like Scott is a very devoted father, and loves Stormi, saying fatherhood was better than he expected it to be.
“I’ve been spending time with my family and with my daughter, Stormi. Being a dad is better than what I thought it would be. Stormi is one of the best human beings I know. She’s like my best friend. She makes life a little bit easier.
She just inspires me and she surprises me every day with how she’s thinking. It’s so crazy. Her mom and I came up with the name Stormi together. I love her mommy and I always will. The hard part about relationships is just trying to be in one without a million outside voices interfering.”
His Fans Mean Something To Him
Some say that Scott's new single, "Gatti," contains lyrics that hint at the reasons for his breakup with Jenner:
“Duck away, she wanna lay up and hibernate/I took a chance, it’s a lot to take.”
But looking at the broader picture, Scott says it's amazing when fans find a connection with his music.
“Sometimes in life you might connect with an artist in discovering music to get you through something. Dealing with anxiety or just down for the day. That’s what Kid Cudi was to me.
Kids tell me that kind of thing all the time and I take that to heart and that’s why I do everything I do. I remember somebody out there is listening to me. I got somebody through the next day. I got somebody through their day and that shit is amazing. That touches me. That resonates with me. For real, 100 percent.”
