Travis Scott says Astros winning World Series would be best thing since Whataburger

HOUSTON — Generations of Houston rappers were on parade Sunday night at World Series Game 5 here at Minute Maid Park. On one side of the field, Bun B was dipped in old-school Astros garb, proclaiming the Astros have what it takes to beat the Los Angeles Dodgers in this World Series.

On the other side of the field was Travis Scott, the current star of Houston rap, whose jewelry was almost as loud as the crowd inside Minute Maid Park when the Astros are winning. There was all that jewelry — and a World Series cap, of course. Scott is enough of a fan that he’s calling his tour and his next album, “AstroWorld.”

Yahoo Sports asked Scott what an Astros World Series win would mean for the city of Houston and he offered a comparison to another pillar of the local community.

“It would be the best thing all-time since Whataburger,” Scott said, referring to Texas’ favorite burger chain.

And in case you’re wondering: Of course, he sides with Whataburger over In-N-Out in the World Series burger battle.

That’s the full video of our chat with Scott above. He knows first-hand just how hyped Houston crowds can be when they’re having a good time. Fans go crazy at his shows, especially for hits like “Goosebumps,” “Pick Up the Phone” and “Butterfly Effect,” which Astros center fielder George Springer uses as his walk-up song.

“Anybody that’s born in Texas, you’re born with like a special blood, right?” Scott said. “It’s a blood that never quits. So this whole city is about to be fired. I don’t know about any other city, but Texas … we go off for anything, whether it’s barbecue, Astros, horses, cats and dogs. We them savages.”
