Travis Kelce on Erin Andrews, Charissa Thompson Jokingly Taking Credit for Taylor Swift Romance: ‘The Best’

Travis Kelce is feeling grateful for Erin Andrews and Charissa Thompson’s matchmaking skills.

On Thursday, May 23, Andrews, 46, and Thompson, 42, jokingly took credit for bringing the NFL star, 34, and his popstar girlfriend Taylor Swift together on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

The NFL commentators' words came after host Fallon, 49, asked them, “You guys predicted Kelce and Taylor?”

“Yes Jimmy, we are responsible,” replied Thompson.

“That was you who did that, thank you,” laughed Fallon as he started clapping. “As a country, we’re thanking our servicemen and women, but we really have to thank you for what you’ve done for all of us. You brought us Taylor and Travis, oh my God.”

“You’re welcome, America,” laughed Thompson.

In response to a video of the moment posted on the show's Instagram page, Kelce shared the comment “For America!!🇺🇸 😂😂 Charissa and Erin are the best! 🙌🏻🙌🏻.”

Fallon also asked Andrews and Thompson about how they made the Kansas City Chiefs tight end and the “Fortnight” singer an item and whether they were friends with Kelce or Swift.

“Yeah, well, obviously we’ve covered him. And we’re friends with him. And how could you not be? The guy’s a time, right? I’ve seen you guys on a golf course and everything. He’s a time,” said Andrews.

"He had mentioned on his podcast that he went to the show, wanted to meet her afterwards, didn’t get the chance to. So we just started talking about it on our podcast saying, ‘Taylor, do this for America. Date him.’ I mean, the guy, he’s not ugly by any means.”

Andrews then mentioned Kelce’s appearance on Saturday Night Live in March 2023 when he took part in a skit of NFL players “lifting women whose boyfriends can’t pick them up.”

“So we’re like, ‘Taylor, go!’ ” adds Andrews.

“We were advocating early on,” continued Thompson. “And he was very sweet and he commented and he was like, ‘I owe you guys big time,’ so then of course everyone gives us credit. We, you know, we'll take the credit. But I just love both of them and I’m so happy to see them happy.”

Fallon then brought out a photo of Swift wearing one of Andrews’ jackets from her sports apparel line at the 2024 Super Bowl in February.

“That’s your jacket!” noted Fallon.

“I own a team apparel line called WEAR by Erin Andrews, I’ve got to hook your wife up and your girls,” said Andrews. “But yeah Super Bowl Sunday she walks in looking amazing and she threw that on and I lost my mind! Like, ‘I love you so much!’ Yeah.”

Andrews and Thompson’s appearance on the show came as Kelce’s teammate and close friend Patrick Mahomes explained how he played matchmaker for him and Swift during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show.

"I like to take some of the credit," said Mahomes. "I was the one who invited Travis to the first Taylor concert when the friendship bracelet [idea came up]. He was sitting in my suite, so I feel like I was the matchmaker."

"I had some input in there as well. I was like, 'Dude, you should go for it. Just go for it.' And you know Travis, man. He does it. He's a great dude," continued Mahomes. "I'm glad that it's all worked out for the best."

While Kelce and Swift have never confirmed when they officially met, Swift said in her Time Person of the Year interview that the pair were already a couple by the time she went to her first Chiefs game in September 2023.
