Travis Kelce Crowns Brother Jason ‘King of South Philly’ on Remixed Pogues Christmas Cover

The Philadelphia Eagles are putting their competitive edge aside in the name of the holiday spirit. For the team’s upcoming holiday album, Eagles center Jason Kelce recorded a duet with his brother, Kansas City Chiefs tight end (and noted boyfriend) Travis Kelce. “Fairytale of South Phily,” which plays on the Pogues holiday classic “Fairytale of New York,” arrives alongside an animated video of the duo embracing their Christmas cheer.

“Philly, are we going to let a Chief steal the show?” the caption reads on an Instagram post about the song. “No way… But we are going to enjoy the newly reimagined single, Fairytale of Philadelphia by Jason & Travis Kelce.”

On the record, the two athletes trade verses back and forth, including one where Travis crowns Jason “the king of South Philly.” Jason is helming the album, A Philly Special Christmas Special, alongside Eagles offensive tackles Lane Johnson and Jordan Mailata.

“We’re here recording the Christmas album and the guys have an idea that maybe you could hop on,” Jason told his brother. “It’s like two people fighting, but then they really love each other. That kind of works really good for our relationship. I think it could be a look at the relationship of two brothers and how much you’re wrapped up in your family’s lives and how much that impacts where you end up in life.”

On their shared podcast, Travis told Jason he hadn’t listened to the final version of the song. “Dude I do not want to hear myself sing like that,” he said. “I’ve got more of the rock voice.”

For those curious, the Kelces’ Christmas collaboration was well in the works before Travis started dating the biggest pop star in the world. According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, the A Philly Special producer Charlie Hall and engineer Nick Krill recorded Travis’ vocals in Kansas City back in August, well before Travis and Taylor Swift first linked up.
