If you are an avid movie fan or Transformers fan, then you already know what you’re doing this weekend—seeing Transformers: Rise of the Beasts obviously. In the past several years, there’s been one burning question whenever a new movie releases (especially those in franchises or universes)—is there a post-credit scene? Or rather, should I stay in the theater until the lights come on? We know you’re here because you want to know the answer to this pressing question so we’ll just get straight to it—yes and no.

No, as in there’s no post-credit scene, and yes because there is a mid-credit scene. Happy? Okay let’s dive in.

Sidenote: We seriously hope you aren’t reading this without having first seen the movie. There’s no major spoiler, but still...

Alright now let's get it.

Does Transformers: Rise of the Beasts have a post-credits scene?

As we just said, no post-credit scene, but there’s one mid-credit scene, so you’ll want to stay in your seat partially through the credits. Just partially though. You can leave after the mid-credit scene rolls.

What is Transformers: Rise of the Beasts about?

In Transformers: Rise of the Beasts we meet a new group of Transformers called the Maximals. Together they join forces with the Autobots to stop an enemy by the name of Unicron from causing world-ending destruction. We also meet the “humans” who unexpectedly get caught in the fight between good and evil, Noah (Anthony Ramos) and Elena (Dominique Fishback), and along the way are treated to epic action scenes, 1990s throwback jams, stunning imagery, and a storyline that keeps you captivated the entire way through.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts Mid-Credit Scene Explained

As the final credits roll, in comes the mid-credit scene after a moment of silence. We then see something along the lines of a name board showing hundreds if not thousands of names. During the film, something pivotal happens to one of the main characters (this is us trying not to spoil), and we find out what exactly ends up happening to that character. The major teaser of the movie comes with its conclusion and the hint towards a G.I. Joe crossover, but the mid-credits scene doesn't provide a ton more information.

And that, folks, is where Transformers leaves us.

What does that mean for the future?

The mid-credit scene effectively leaves us with no clue as to what the future holds at all, so you’re either going to fall into two categories… either you’ll be upset that you have no clues to try and put the pieces of the puzzle together even though you’ll still end up seeing the movie anyway, or you’ll be satisfied because you like surprises.

As for what’s next… let’s break it down for you.

Rise of the Beasts serves as a prequel or a reset rather for Transformers, and a sequel to 2018’s Bumblebee. Rise of the Beasts. The movie also re-introduces Hasbro's Beast Wars narrative into the Transformers stories. So yes, that means Rise of the Beasts is chronologically before the Michael Bay movies.

What’s next?

This is still slowly being announced. According to Screenrant, Paramount has already confirmed that Transformers 8 is in the works, and Rise of the Beasts is going to be a trilogy. Beyond that, we know nothing. There’s also rumblings of a potential G.I. Joe and Transformers crossover, and, slight spoiler here… that seems to be confirmed with the final words spoken during Rise of the Beasts.

That’s all we know for now. You can catch Transformers: Rise of the Beasts in theaters starting today.
