A cliffhanger in a Transformers film?! Optimus Prime, look how far you've come. After five movies and infinite transformations, the semi-truck-turned-talking-mech-fighter may have finally proved that there's more to these robots than meets the eye. But first, there's a little setting up to do. Transformers: Rise of the Beasts marks a special occasion, as it's the first mainline Transformers film that isn't directed by Michael Bay. Creed II's Steven Caple Jr. was given the reins. Plus, the new film—released nearly 16 years since the original movie and 39 years since the creation of the famous Hasbro toy—also acts a brand-new jumping-off point for the franchise.

Rise of the Beasts stars countless A-list voice actors, including Ron Perlman, Michelle Yeoh, Peter Dinklage, Pete Davidson, Michaela Jaé Rodriguez, and Colman Domingo. But as always, some puny humans are running around as well. Elena (Dominique Fishback) is studying ancient artifacts in a museum and Noah (Anthony Ramos) is an ex-military electronics expert who accidentally steals a transformer. After he deals with the whole Rise of the Beasts thing, though, there's a big cliffhanger left for Ramos's character.

In the post-credits scene, we learn that Noah's car is a Transformer named Mirage—but that's nothing. There's another surprise in store. Noah attends an interview for a standard security job, learning throughout the process that he's actually being recruited by a secret government organization. That group? G.I. Joe. The action figures, of course, are another line of toys owned by Hasbro, alongside Power Rangers, My Little Pony, Beyblade, Nerf, Play-Doh, and more.

Are we about to experience the strangest multiverse of all time? For the chaos of it all, I honestly hope so.
