According to Deadline, Paramount Pictures has changed the release date for eOne’s forthcoming animated prequel revolving around the origins of Cybertron, Transformers One. Originally scheduled for a July 19, 2024 release, the movie has now been officially pushed back to September 13, 2024.

Its current theatrical release date will see Transformers One debuting in the same month as two other high-profile features including Tim Burton’s long-awaited Beetlejuice sequel and Marvel Studios’ live-action Blade movie.

Who’s Involved in Transformers One?

Transformers One will be directed by Toy Story 4’s Josh Cooley from a screenplay written by Andrew Barer, Steve Desmond, Gabriel Ferrari, and Michael Sherman. The animated prequel will feature the voices of Chris Hemsworth as Optimus Prime, Scarlett Johansson as Elita, Brian Tyree Henry as Megatron, Keegan-Michael Key as Bumblebee, Jon Hamm as Sentinel Prime, and Laurence Fishburne as Alpha Trion.

The project is being produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Tom DeSanto, Don Murphy, Michael Bay, Mark Vahradian and Aaron Dem. Executive producers include Steven Spielberg, Brian Goldner, Brian Oliver, Bradley J. Fischer and Valerii An.

While not too much is known about the movie, Di Bonaventura recently opened up on what to expect from it. According to di Bonaventura, the project will actually focus on the origins of a young Megatron and young Optimus Prime, as the two start out as friends before ending up on rival sides of the battlefield. The reason for covering this in an animated film, he says, is because it was simply “financially impossible” to do in a live-action format.
