A last-minute stunner almost changes everything.

Warning: This article contains spoilers about the The Traitors season 2 finale.

Close down the castle. Put Alan Cumming’s insanely fabulous outfits in storage. Tell Fergus to go do whatever it is that Fergus does. Because season 2 of The Traitors is officially in the books and a winner — or is it winners? — has/have been crowned. But that crowning did not take place without a last-minute shocker that almost completely flipped the game inside out.

The episode began with Shereé Whitfield being on the receiving end of a murder as Traitor Kate Chastain tried to throw suspicion off herself by taking out a fellow Bravo alum. And it worked somewhat… at least temporarily.

Kate somehow got Chris “CT" Tamburello and Trishelle Cannatella to change their vote at the next banishment ceremony from her to Sandra Diaz-Twine, sending the two-time Survivor winner home just one step away from the final Truth Ceremony.

When the Truth Ceremony began, Kate’s luck ran out as she was unanimously banished by CT, Trishelle, and Mercedes “MJ” Javid. And that’s when things got interesting. At that point, it seemed that the only question remaining was whether the three Faithful left would split the $208,100 prize pot amongst themselves, or if former The Challenge stars CT and Trishelle would cut MJ loose to grab more cash for themselves.

When the two Challenge alums voted for another banishment, that question seemed to be answered, but Trishelle shocked everybody by voting instead to banish her closest ally in CT — explaining that she was spooked by CT giving John Bercow immunity at one point in the season instead of her, and also by the fact that he switched his earlier vote from Kate to Sandra.

However, since the second Truth Ceremony banishment ended in a 1-1-1 tie, there was a revote, and this time CT and Trishelle aligned and indeed voted out MJ, leading the stunned Shahs of Sunset star to murmur in surprise, “I am so heartbroken. I hope that makes you guys feel great.”

That means the two frenemies CT and Trishelle ended up as the season 2 winners, walking away with $104,100 each… in addition to whatever their appearance fee was that reality all-stars typically procure to show up on things like this.

And now fans will be forced to wait with bated breath to learn how long it will be until Alan Cumming is once again imploring people to murder and banish one another.  Also, can someone go check on Dr. Will?
