Thursday night on Peacock, Season 2 of “The Traitors” crowned its co-winners in a finale full of lies, deception and betrayals (read our minute-by-minute live blog). On social media, fans of the cutthroat reality TV show are mixed on what they thought of the ultimate results. So did the right person win? Gold Derby Editors Marcus James Dixon, Denton Davidson, Latasha Ford and Rob Licuria recently got together to dish what we thought of the last episode — the good and the bad. Watch our “The Traitors” season 2 finale reactions video above.

Heading into the last hour, only six players remained in the running to win the prize money: traitor Kate Chastain (“Below Deck”) and faithfuls Chris “C.T.” Tamburello (“The Challenge”), Mercedes “MJ” Javid (“Shahs of Sunset”), Sandra Diaz-Twine (“Survivor”), Shereé Whitfield (“The Real Housewives of Atlanta”) and Trishelle Cannatella (“The Real World: Las Vegas”).

The finale began with Kate murdering Shereé, making her the traitors’ last victim. Later, the Final 5 contestants competed in their biggest mission yet, which resulted in a total prize pot of $208,100. At the last round table, Sandra was banished by a unanimous vote, and Trishelle instantly felt suspicious of C.T. because he seemingly changed his vote from Kate (which was the plan) to Sandra at the last minute.

The Top 4 players then met outside at the Fire of Truth ceremony, where Kate was banished in fourth place. MJ then voted to end the game, but the duo from “The Challenge” still weren’t convinced every traitor had been sent packing. In a shocking 1-1-1 tie, MJ voted for Trishelle, Trishelle voted for C.T., and C.T. voted for MJ. That resulted in a vote-off, with Trishelle changing her vote to MJ, making MJ the last person to leave the game.

C.T. and Trishelle celebrated their victory as the winners of “The Traitors,” with each of them pocketing $104,050. So what did our Gold Derby Editors think of the end results?

“I actually do think the right person won,” declares Denton. “I think Trishelle, in particular, played the best game. She always had a pulse on what was happening. Her problem was that no one would listen to her, but she always was one step ahead of everyone.”

Latasha chimes in, “I definitely feel like Peter [Weber] should have been the winner, because I feel like he caught on to everybody’s game early on. He was very strategic in how he wanted to basically approach the round table and get rid of the next person.”

Rob was less enthusiastic about the co-champions, claiming he was “falling asleep thinking about the finale.” He adds, “I was disappointed. As soon as Phaedra [Parks] left, I felt like the show lost its spark, and I wanted her to win.”

“Sandra was my pick to win in this finale,” notes Marcus. “I thought she did a really good job the whole season. She was kind of befriending the traitors like Parvati and especially Phaedra … But this ‘Challenge’ duo, of the Final 4, I think they did deserve it.”
