Trailer For 'The Crown' Season 3 Is Here, And There's A New Queen Elizabeth

The third season of Netflix's "The Crown" arrives Nov. 17, and we must all bow down to the simplicity of this trailer.

Netflix Did This Trailer Right

The trailer is shot through double-wide doors that slowly open to what seems like an empty room. Family pictures line a table and a pink flowered chair remains vacant. Colman enters, and somehow she makes the mood shift from neutral to hostile.

Powerful Opening

The trailer almost reads like a horror movie: there's just the sound of a ticking clock and some underlying music before the Queen (played by Olivia Colman) strolls into the frame and turns to the camera. And that's the trailer.

Colman drew raves when she starred in The Favourite last year and took home the Best Actress Oscar, defeating Glenn Close in a bit of an upset.

The Royal Fam's a Bit Older Now

Season 3 of "The Crown" covers 1964 to 1977 and of course chronicles the Queen and the lives of those who swirl around her.

New cast members include Tobias Menzies as Prince Phillip, Helena Bonham Carter as Princess Margaret, Ben Daniels as Tony Armstrong-Jones, Josh O’Connor as Prince Charles, Erin Doherty as Princess Anne, Marion Bailey as The Queen Mother, and Jason Watkins as Prime Minister Harold Wilson.
