Tra-la-la! When we snap our fingers, you will join us in watching the just-dropped trailer for the Captain Underpants Halloween special. DreamWorks Animation debuted the teaser and, once you see it, we think you’ll agree that you’ve found your next perfect family movie night pick. Look, the trailer speaks for itself — we won’t even have to put you in a trance with our secret hypno-rings.

Is your nerd alert pinging yet? Yeah, we’ll own that. ‘Round here, Captain Underpants is a big deal. Or at least it is to our kids, who’ve collectively watched both the movie and Netflix series enough for us to know the innermost thoughts of every character. So, it’s exciting stuff to get a sneak peek at The Spooky Tales of Captain Underpants: Hack-A-Ween. Not surprisingly, George and Harold once again find themselves faced with a town crisis. And just in time for the spookiest month of the year, they’re dealing with a truly frightening dilemma: Principal Krupp and evil boy-genius Melvin have declared Halloween illegal.

While George and Harold manage to turn “Hall-no-ween” into “Hack-a-ween” by reinventing the holiday, the evening doesn’t go off exactly as planned. So, mark your calendar for Oct. 8 — your family can then “sneak or snack” your way through the Halloween special to find out how things turn out for our two favorite boy heroes.

The Captain Underpants special isn’t the only exciting thing coming to Netflix for Halloween. Much like Hallmark has their Countdown to Christmas, Netflix has their own countdown to Halloween dubbed “Netflix and Chills.” Some of the scarier, decidedly more grown-up fare has already started dropping. Did you watch Marianne yet? How about We Have Always Lived in the Castle? Prepare for a few sleepless nights as more creepy movies and TV shows make their way to this seasonal Netflix category.

But, just like The Spooky Tales of Captain Underpants: Hack-A-Ween, there are family-friendly “chills” coming, too. The Last Kids on Earth, an animated special, sees a group of middle schoolers fend off a monster apocalypse. Creeped Out and Super Monsters (and Super Monsters: Vida’s First Halloween!) both return for follow-up seasons.

Better break out your comfiest pair of underpants — red cape optional — and settle into a good spot on the sofa. You’re going to have a lot to watch as the countdown to Halloween commences.
