The long-awaited Beetlejuice sequel is almost here.

For the first time since 1988, Tim Burton and Michael Keaton are reuniting for another stab at the beloved comedy/horror.

“Death is hard,” says Winona Ryder’s Lydia Deetz, who reprises her role after 35 years. “Yeah, sometimes I think life is harder,” responds Jenna Ortega, summing up the playfully morbid tone of the film.

Keaton stars as the trickster demon Beetlejuice, who shows up to haunt Deetz once more. “I am gonna make you so happy,” he tells her unconvincingly.

Also featuring in the film are Catherine O’Hara, Justin Theroux, Monica Bellucci, and Willem Dafoe.

As per Warner Bros. official synopsis, “After an unexpected family tragedy, three generations of the Deetz family return home to Winter River. Still haunted by Beetlejuice, Lydia's life is turned upside down when her rebellious teenage daughter, Astrid, discovers the mysterious model of the town in the attic and the portal to the Afterlife is accidentally opened.”

That means trouble is brewing in both realms. And it gets even worse when someone - it’s not clear who - says Beetlejuice's name three times and summons him.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice releases in theaters and IMAX on September 6, 2024 nationwide, and internationally beginning 4 September 2024.
