Netflix has shared the official teaser for Avatar: The Last Airbender series. The live-action series is set to premiere on February 22nd, 2024. Watch the clip below.

First announced in 2018, the new Avatar: The Last Airbender will retell the story of the beloved Nickelodeon animated series, following Aang and his companions as they attempt to restore balance to their war-torn world. The last of the airbenders and the current Avatar — the only bender who can manipulate all four elements: fire, earth, water, and air — Aang has only a short amount of time to face his past, overcome his fears, and save humanity from the wrath of Fire Lord Ozai (Daniel Dae Kim) and his conquest-hungry Fire Nation.

While most Avatar fans cringe at the phrase “live-action adaptation” because of M. Night Shyamalan’s bafflingly-bad attempt at bringing the series to the big screen in 2010, the Netflix series seems to be more mindful of honoring the original’s legacy, and even earned a spot on Consequence’s round-up of the 25 most-anticipated shows of 2023.

Accordingly, the trailer gives us a sneak peak at all sorts of fun things from the series, including: Aang’s iceberg, Katara, Sokka, Zuko (with his ponytail and scar), Uncle Iroh, Fire Lord Ozai, Suki and the Kyoshi Warriors, Appa, Momo, and, of course, plenty of bending. Watch the trailer below.

The series will premiere on Netflix on February 22nd, 2024, and will consist of eight hour-long episodes. Check out a series of first look photos below.
