Tracee Ellis Ross Posts Throwback Photos with Mom Diana Ross: ‘Blast from the Past’

"Some of my old stuff be floating around," Tracee captioned an image of her teenage self posing with the legendary singer

Tracee Ellis Ross is taking a trip down memory lane!

On Saturday, the black-ish star, 51, posted images on Instagram from the 1991 Gap ad campaign she did with her mom, Diana Ross.

The duo resembled twins in the black-and-white images, taken by legendary photographer Herb Ritts. They both wore a simple white tank top and jeans in the campaign as they looked into the camera, their bodies intertwined.

Per the campaign caption that can be read in the first image and Tracee's Instagram caption, she was a 19-year-old student at the time, which means Diana, 79, was about 47 at the time.

"Some of my old stuff be floating around… Just saw this little blast from the past," Tracee captioned her post. "19 year old me with bushy eyebrows in this @gap ad from 1991 with my mom shot by the one and only @herbritts."

"So gorgeous!" Tracee's friend Reese Witherspoon commented.

Tracee spoke with InStyle in 2022 about what it was like being raised by a music icon. "My mom was extremely present," she told the magazine. "Waking us up for school, sitting for dinner with us and giving us a genuine, anchored, real family life and home life. The most important thing to my mother was not fame, it was her children."

Tracee's father is music business manager Robert Ellis Silberstein, but while the music industry is in her blood, Tracee made a name for herself as an actor and a comedian.

In 2020, Tracee told PEOPLE why she waited until she was 47 to sing for her mother, though she admitted to having dreams of singing while growing up.

"There’s a reason I waited 47 years to let my voice out publicly!" Tracee said of singing in the 2020 film The High Note. "It was my childhood dream to sing — but terrifying when your mother is who my mother is. The idea of comparison; that’s in a child’s mind or an adult’s mind. I could be taken down and obliterated."
