Tower Porchfest is coming to Fresno: what to know

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Tower Porchfest is coming, and for those who are attending this event for the first time, here is what they might need to know:

Jeremy Hofer, the co-found of Tower Porchfest, says they have been prepping for this event since November 2023, with the call for porches being done as early as January.

Tower Porchfest is back in Fresno’s Tower District: how did it all begin?

The first Porchfest was held in 2021, and Hofer says 42 porches signed up for it, as well as 65 bands.

Hofer recommends new attendees go over the physical map which will be located at the Tower Theater. He says the location will also work as an information booth and there they will have merch like hats and t-shirts with the names of the bands performing.

Also located at the Tower Theater, Tower Velo Bicycle Shop along with Bike Station will be repairing bikes on-site for free from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Hofer says the Tower Porchfest can become overwhelming, which is why he recommends those who are new to the event to filter the map by genre and then go from there.

“Look at what kind of music you like. Do you like bluegrass? Do you like folk? Do you like rap too?” he said. “So you can filter it and then you can just kind of drill down to the porches that maybe have bluegrass on it, and you can see a porch, and then start putting your itinerary down.”

Those who want to plan their day in advance can access the Porchfest’s interactive map by clicking here.

Hofer recommends parking at the Fresno City College parking lot, which will be providing parking for the day, and biking in if needed.

He also mentions that this year they partnered with the city for a trolley. The trolley will be going around Tower District from Fresno City College every ten minutes, with about six to seven stops available in which visitors can get off and visit the porch they want to visit to get back on the trolley.

The co-founder says it is recommended and appreciated for attendees to tip the bands performing since they will be doing it at no cost.

“A lot of the bands are playing for free out of love. Let’s show them love back by giving them some fives, you know. Maybe some Venmo,” he said. “Let’s keep it a really fun day for everybody so we can keep doing this year after year.
