Who knew such a stunning piece of jewelry could receive an upgrade? Meghan Markle updated Prince Harry’s engagement ring with more diamonds. The Duchess of Sussex recently debuted a new eternity ring, a gift from her husband that she showcased at Trooping the Colour a few weeks ago. Apparently, admirers were so dazzled by the ring’s opulence that they totally missed a major upgrade to another important piece of jewelry: Markle’s engagement ring.

Though the change is somewhat hard to notice, it’s clear the the Duchess of Sussex has updated the simple gold band of her engagement ring for a micro-pavé one. The updated ring actually made its debut when Prince Harry and The Duchess introduced baby Archie to the world, but everyone was — rightfully — focused on the sweet little baby instead of the ring.

In an interview with BBC after his engagement announcement, Prince Harry emphasized how much his future wife loved the ring upon his proposal. “The ring is obviously yellow gold because that’s her favorite and the main stone itself I sourced from Botswana and the little diamonds either side are from my mother’s jewelry collection, to make sure that she’s with us on this crazy journey together.”

The ring also packs a lot of sentiment a nod to Prince Harry’s late mother, Princess Diana. Flanking the main stone of the engagement ring are two diamonds that came from Princess Diana’s own collection. Sharing with the BBC following their engagement, “…it’s so important to me to know that she’s a part of this with us… It’s incredibly special. “
