Torres Announces New Album What an enormous room, 2024 Tour

The post Torres Announces New Album What an enormous room, 2024 Tour appeared first on Consequence.

Torres has announced her new album, What an enormous room, out January 26th, 2024 via Merge Records. The artist born Mackenzie Scott has also mapped out a 2024 tour of North America, the UK, and Europe in addition to sharing the lead single, “Collect.”

What an enormous room was recorded at Stadium Heights Sound in Durham, North Carolina during the fall of 2022. Sarah Jaffe co-produced the album with Scott, who played almost every instrument possible, including guitar, bass, synths, organ, piano, and programmed drums. TJ Allen — who mixed the project overseas in Bristol — and Jaffe also played instruments on the album. Pre-orders are ongoing, and you can see the artwork and full tracklist below.

The supporting world tour kicks off on January 17th in Cleveland, after which it will stop in Chicago, Nashville, Atlanta, Brooklyn, Washington, DC, and more. Then, Torres will head across the pond for dates across the UK and Europe before returning to the States for shows in Denver, Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Austin, and more. Aisha Burns and Liza Anne will support on select dates. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday, October 6th via Ticketmaster.

In a statement, Scott described “Collect” as “the rage song” she’s been trying to write for years, and the sentiment comes across with crunchy guitar riffs, distorted synths, and confrontational lyrics. “You claim what you didn’t earn/ Is that what you deserve?” she sings. “Did I hit a nerve?” Watch the music video, directed by Dani Okon, below.

What an enormous room follows 2021’s Thirstier.
