Tori Spelling Reveals She Has Family Dinners with Dean McDermott and His Girlfriend: 'I Like Lily a Lot'

On her new podcast 'misSpelling', the actress said she and McDermott are "co-parenting very well right now"

Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott may be divorcing, but they’re still spending family time together.

On the April 8 episode of her podcast misSpelling, the Beverly Hills, 90210 alum, 50, revealed that she and McDermott, 57, still have family dinners that McDermott’s new girlfriend, Lily Calo, also attends.

Talking about the gatherings, Spelling said, “I like Lily a lot. It's not bad. It's just you know, it's different. Right?”

The actress also let out a chuckle, noting, “I laugh when I get nervous. I make jokes when I'm nervous because I don't know how to process it.”

“Dean is a very good-looking man,” she continued. “That has never changed. I think it just… there was so much resentment built up that I couldn't go back to that.”

Spelling pointed out some of the changes she’s had to make in front of Calo while addressing McDermott, whom she was married to for 18 years.

“I can call him my ex-husband now? Estranged? Estranged husband? I still say babe. I always called him babe,” Spelling said. "Like, I say 'babe' in front of his girlfriend. And I'm like, what am I supposed to call him, Dean? I have not called him Dean in 18 years. It's so weird.”

“I guess when I get a boyfriend or someone else that I call babe, I guess I'll stop calling him babe,” she added.

Reflecting more on her split, and particularly the way it will impact the pair’s five children — Liam, 17, Stella, 15, Hattie, 12, Finn, 11, and Beau, 7 — Spelling said, “I hope it's gonna be amicable.”

“We're co-parenting very well right now,” she explained. “The kids are seeing him again, and they're happy with his progress and the work he's done on himself. And they're proud of him, and we like his girlfriend. And we all co-parent together and living the dream. I don't know.”

She continued, “You hope it works out like that. You always hope that. I don't know. I don't know what's gonna happen now. Because now it's kind of out of our hands, and it's gonna be with lawyers and courts. And I think they're not quite always used to things not getting messy with celebrities.”

“I don't think either of us wanted to get messy,” she said, before adding, “Life's messy.”

Earlier in the podcast episode, Spelling also opened up about whether she reconsidered separating from McDermott.

“I'm not gonna lie,” she said, “there's moments where I'm like, ‘Should I have stayed? What are the long term ramifications on the children of staying in a marriage where they have a family, they're in the same house, it's all intact, you move fluidly, but there's so much unhappiness and so much anger? At what point is it worth it to have to have them go through that process where they're separated, and they go see different parents?’"

“And I don't know,” she added. “I didn't know the answer to that till I was in it.”

McDermott was first photographed with Calo, a senior account executive at Conscious Community Global, in October 2023. They also posed together in a photo posted on her company’s LinkedIn page. Later that month, the duo were seen sharing a steamy kiss outside of LAX Airport.

In March, McDermott opened up about how Calo has been fitting into the family, telling Page Six that Spelling and Calo “get along fabulously.”

“I’m blessed, you know, having everybody get along and come together for the greater good of the kids,” the actor said. “I just, I’m so blessed. It’s a beautiful thing.”

Added McDermott: “If I do the right things and I live an estimable and respectable life, you know, I get these wonderful gifts in my life."
