Tori Spelling is walking out of 2019 with a positive outlook — and an inspiring message. This holiday season, Spelling celebrated the festivities not just with her husband Dean McDermott and the five children they share — but also with McDermott’s ex-wife. On December 28, the Beverly Hills 90210 actress posted a pic to her Instagram feed showing a peek into the blended family’s gathering, which included McDermott’s ex Mary Jo Eustace. Spelling captioned it with a lengthy message that nodded to generosity, forgiveness, the power of family, and the sense that time heals.

“Something good came out of 2019…” she wrote as a caption on the cozy pic, in which Spelling has her arms around her husband’s ex as she snaps a selfie of them both. “14 years ago I never thought this pic would ever happen. Society tells us ex’s can’t be friends. Society SUCKS!”

Eustace and McDermott were married from 1993 until 2006 — and that marriage ended as a result of McDermott’s affair with Spelling. The women did not get along at the time, and for very long after. But these days, according to Spelling’s caption, “I truly enjoy this new friendship I’ve formed with my hubby’s ex @maryjoeustace. And, tonight we started a new blended family tradition celebrating the holidays together.”

She added hashtags for #blendedisbest #ourfamily — and in a particular show of unity —#mcdermottspellingeustace.

For his part, McDermott shared another view of the festivities, with another caption showing support for the women in his life and the efforts they’ve made in this journey.

“Such a wonderful night and new Christmas (Ex-Mas) tradition,” he wrote. “Creating memories and one big beautiful blended family. It was a long time in the making, but worth every minute. I want to thank 2 incredible women for making this happen. @torispelling and @maryjoeustace It’s so nice having everyone together, and to see @thejackmonty so happy. Best present ever. #newtraditions #blendedfamily #merryexmas #family”
