Kelly and Jelly Roll will serve as mentors for this season's 24 in an episode airing Sunday and Monday

Jelly Roll and Tori Kelly are bringing their all to American Idol.

In a clip shared exclusively with PEOPLE from Sunday's episode of American Idol, Jelly Roll and Kelly reflect on their roles as mentors and offer up sound advice to this season's Top 24.

"When I got the call from American Idol to be a mentor, I was so excited because I just remember being 16 years old auditioning for this very show. So it was a very full circle moment for me to realize, 'Oh, you have something to give now,'" Kelly, 31, who starred on season 9 of the singing competition show, says.

Jelly Roll, 39, adds, "I feel like I bring a lot of experience in the form of failure to the table. I think that's something they're going to have to be familiar with because that's what it takes to get good. You got to do it wrong a thousand times."

In the clip, the "Need a Favor" singer also offers up a piece of advice to contestant Odell Bunton Jr.

"He knows what he's got but I think he's almost afraid of overdoing it. For him to have a great performance he's got to let loose," Jelly Roll says. "This is the biggest moment of your career man. So I would go all in."

The mentors also raved about their experience on the Disney resort in Hawaii.

"Hawaii is already amazing and then getting to stay at the Disney Aulani resort is just incredible," Kelly says. "It's just beautiful — the stage looking over the water."

"It's been unbelievable. The family is having a ball. I brought the whole family. We made a whole trip of it," Jelly Roll says. "It's a big deal — it's kind of like a little vacation."

On Sunday, April 7, 12 contestants will take the stage for America's first vote of the season and Kelly will mentor, perform and join the judges on the panel. On Monday, April 8, 12 more will take the stage and Jelly Roll will perform the same duties. The episodes air at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
