Top Gun: Maverick's release date gets pushed back to November

Top Gun: Maverick will fly into theatres a few months later than expected.
According to Deadline, this year's sequel featuring Tom Cruise's return as pilot Pete 'Maverick' Mitchell has an updated release slot of November 19 – switching from July.
Cruise's other big movie Mission: Impossible 7 has effectively given up its space on the calendar for Maverick and now debuts on May 27, 2022 instead.

In other news, producer Jerry Bruckheimer revealed last year that Cruise made his young co-stars go through a "gruelling" training programme during pre-production on Maverick.
"He put the actors through this gruelling process over three months so they could take the G-forces when we put them in the F/A-18s.
"It was really a tough slog for these young actors because they also had to go through water survival training, where they are blindfolded and put in a water tank that's turned upside down and they have to figure out how to get out."

Bruckheimer added: "And Tom went through all the same stuff! They told me he went through that training just like a 22-year-old would — that's how good he is."
For a guy that's famously always done his own stunts, we expect nothing less.
Top Gun: Maverick will now arrive in cinemas on November 19, 2021.
