‘Top Gear’ Finale Turns ‘Hideous’ Vehicle Into Amazing Sport Yacht

On the Top Gear season finale, Matt LeBlanc and Rory Reid perform vehicle reassignment surgery on the much maligned SsangYong Rodius by turning it into a boat.

The Rodius is not available in the United States, but where it is available, most people don’t like it. So LeBlanc and Reid met up with a boat builder named Digby and were able to do something Top Gear hasn’t successfully done in the 23 previous seasons: They made a genuinely great boat out of a car.

The final product was a perfectly integrated van-boat with all the luxury appointments someone could hope for, like a hidden TV, a foot bath filled with parasitic pedicure fish, and, of course, a toilet that shoots the waste out like a torpedo.

But it wasn’t all just show; there was also a lot of go. The boat was capable of easily reaching 35 knots on the open sea. So while the SsangYong Rodius might be a terrible road vehicle, the SsangYacht is a fantastic water vehicle.
