'Top Gear' Creates First Cuba Grand Prix in 56 Years

Top Gear hosts Rory Reid and Chris Harris threw on their guayaberas and headed to Cuba to create the first Cuban Grand Prix held in 57 years. Of course in order to be fully prepared, they had to bring along some cars. Chris Harris brought a Maserati Biturbo, which is not only a 2.6-liter twin turbo v-6 but also a manufacturer the Cubans know well. Maserati won the 1957 Cuban Grand Prix and a Stirling Moss driven Maserati won the last in 1960. Rory Reid on the other hand stuck with what Cuban's are familiar with, American muscle. Reid brought a mid/late 80's Camaro, with a 5 liter V8 engine that put out a whopping 170 horsepower. Even though it took over 9 seconds to get to 60 mph, the locals seems to love all that iron and displacement. The hosts set up a race track and invited some of the local car guys to take part in the grand prix. Since most of the locals drove pre-embargo cars comprised of mostly salvaged parts, Chris Harris didn't have much difficulty making short work of them in his newer Italian sport sedan.
