The building in the heart of Hyde Park that for years housed the United States Post Office has a new look and new tenants.

Tiny Grocer, Whole Foods Market veteran Steph Steele's boutique market that spotlights local and artisanal producers and makers, opened Tuesday in the building at 4300 Speedway. First Light Bookshop and Cafe opened in the building earlier this year. Tiny Grocer and First Light are joined in the space by executive chef-partner Jo Chan and her new French bistro, Bureau de Poste.

The restaurant features indoor seating and a landscaped patio dining area and a menu from “Top Chef” alumnus Chan offering French classics like escargot, French onion soup, pomme Dauphine, beef tartare and duck leg cassoulet.

"The thing I keep coming back to is craveability; I want to have a menu that is really craveable and I think that’s what’s important when you’re talking about a neighborhood place where you want to have a lot of regulars,” Chan told the American-Statesman this summer.

Bureau de Poste is open for dinner nightly from 5 to 10 p.m. and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for weekend brunch.

Like the original South Congress Avenue location, the Hyde Park Tiny Grocer features a deli case with made-to-order sandwiches and pre-made items to-go, along with an extensive wine selection. It is also the first retail operation to sell Made In cookware line, outside of Made In itself.
