Top 5 Donald Trump Punch Lines From Stephen Colbert This Week

Donald Trump’s presidency continues to dominate the late night television landscape. Every monologue is filled with jokes about Trump, his family, and his administration. Stephen Colbert has been the head of the comedy spear, sticking it to Trump every night. It is impossible to keep up with all the political jokes, so we rounded up the top five Trump punch lines of the week from The Late Show.

President Trump recently made some comments about the Late Show host in an interview with Time magazine. One of the things Trump said was, “You see a no-talent guy like Colbert. There’s nothing funny about what he says.” At the time, Colbert responded to Trump’s comments by saying, “There’s a lot you don’t understand, but I never thought one of those things would be show business. Don’t you know I’ve been trying for a year to get you to say my name? And you were very restrained, but now you did it. I won!”

Donald Trump’s firing of FBI Director James Comey is still making headlines. Colbert was surprised Trump had met with Russian officials so quickly after firing the man investigating him for connections with Russian officials. The Late Show host said, “Trump met with these Russians in the Oval Office one day after he fired FBI head Jim Comey. That’s like starting a Tinder account on the way home from your spouse’s funeral.”

Colbert also joked about Trump reportedly sharing highly classified information with those Russian officials in that meeting. One U.S. official reportedly said Trump shared “code-word information,” which Colbert helped explain. He said, “Code word” means, like, the vital aspects of the story have to be replaced with other words. You have to say things like “The package has been delivered.” “The squirrel is in the basket.” “The idiot is in the Oval.”

The Late Show With Stephen Colbert airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. on CBS.
