The Coachella Valley is home to a number of events and activities to take part in during the last days of summer and early fall. In anticipation for these events, we've put together a list of things happening this week.

Palm Canyon Theatre Presents: 'Brigadoon'
Don't miss Palm Canyon Theatre's closing performance of its first show of the year: "Brigadoon." With music and lyrics by Lerner and Loewe (who also created "My Fair Lady"), this show takes audiences to a mythical village in the Scottish Highlands. The story follows two New Yorkers – Tommy Albright and Jeff Douglas – who discover the village of Brigadoon and are told that it comes to life for one day every 100 years.

The Dinah Official Closing Party
Close out Club Skirts Dinah Shore Weekend in style at one of Palm Springs' newest nightclubs. Join in the Sunday fun at the self-proclaimed "largest annual music festival for LGBTQ+ women" by dancing to tunes spun by DJ Gracy D and DJ Tatiana. The Sunday night event also includes the announcement of the Emerging Talent Contest Winner.

'Resurgence' Art Show
Join Wyld Womxn Feminist Art Collective for this all-female/non-binary art show Curated by Adriana Lopez-Ospina, Lauren Bright of Wyld Womxn and Juliette Vos of Desert Art Woman Gallery. This show tells the story of a community of artists and reflects on what they've collectively and individually survived, with a focus on women’s empowerment and education.

Americana Open Mic and Pro Showcase
Come join Americana duo The Wildflowers (aka musicians Boo Rigney on piano and Dede Ondishko on fiddle) for an evening of live music upstairs at the Palm Springs Cultural Center. Enjoy some beautiful vocal harmonies by this duo to kick things off before it becomes an 8-set open mic. Then, the evening will close with a professional guest showcase.
When: VIP Lounge opens at 4:45 p.m., open mic sign-up begins at 5 p.m. (in person) and show starts at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28 (and every Thursday this season)

Luis R Conriquez Concert
Singer-songwriter Luis R. Conriquez will bring his modern corridos and bandas to Acrisure Arena — with special guest Edgardo Nuñez — this weekend. Hailing from Sonora, Mexico, this modern corridos and bandas musician signed to Kartel Music issued his debut album, "Mis Incios," in 2018. Most recently, Conriquez is known for releasing a banda version of his 2019 album "Corridos Belicos," and following it with the 18-track "Corridos Belicos," Vol. 2.

Film in the Gardens: 'The Breakfast Club'
The Sunnylands Films in the Gardens series closes this week with another back-to-school classic from the 1980s. This week will feature "The Breakfast Club," the 1985 teen coming-of-age comedy/drama written, produced and directed by John Hughes. Filmgoers are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs, blankets and small picnics for this event (which features an R-rated movie, so parental discretion is advised) presented in partnership with the Palm Springs International Film Festival. No food or seating will be provided. Large coolers, alcohol, smoking and pets are not allowed.

Riverside County Scare & Pumpkin Festival
Ready to celebrate spooky season? The fairgrounds have been transformed into the town of Plaza Fantazma for this month-long festival, which is the perfect stop for family fun this fall. Those brave enough to face a real fright can pay extra to head inside the Carnival Carnivore Haunted House.

Concerts in the Park
Rock out with the City of La Quinta at this week's free Concerts in the Park show. Grab a lawn chair or blankets and head to Silver Rock Park to enjoy a performance by four-piece Palm Desert rock band The Desert Crows and La Quinta-based rock, blues and country blues group HighRoad Band.
