The Coachella Valley is home to a number of events and activities to take part in during the last days of summer season. In anticipation for these events, we've put together a list of things happening this week.

Daughters of the American Revolution Celebrates Constitution Week
The local Cahuilla chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution are sponsoring a bell ringing event to celebrate the 236th signing of the Declaration of Independence. Palm Desert Mayor Kathleen Kelly is scheduled to attend the brief ceremony, which is being held in honor of Constitution Week, observed Sept. 17–23. The week aims to "keep alive the memory of the men and women who secured our nation’s foundational liberties," as a DAR press release stated.

Bhakti Fest
Bhakti Fest is coming back to Joshua Tree after a three-year hiatus. This three-day yoga and conscious music festival will offer a wide variety of yoga, breath work, sound healing, spiritual and wellness workshops in the high-desert setting of the Joshua Tree Lake & Campground. With a vast lineup of musical talent, Bhakti Fest is aiming to make a memorable return to the desert.

Films In the Gardens: 'Some Kind of Wonderful'
The Sunnylands Center & Gardens is bringing back its Film in the Gardens series with a screening of the 1987 film "Some Kind of Wonderful" this Friday. Filmgoers are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs, blankets, and small picnics for this family-friendly event presented in partnership with the Palm Springs International Film Festival. No food or seating will be provided. Large coolers, alcohol, smoking, and pets are not allowed.
When: Gates open at 6 p.m., film begins at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15

Jonathan Tarrant Show
Song-stylist Jonathan Karrant is set to perform this Friday at the Purple Room Supper club with a collection of songs on his most recent “Eclectic” album. Karrant’s newest album includes songs from the Great American Songbook derived from Broadway musicals and Hollywood films while also featuring songs not usually found in the jazz genre. Celebrate the development of this new album by Karrant live on stage at the Purple Room.

Todrick Hall's 'Velvet Rage'
Performer, composer, actor, director, choreographer and social media personality Todrick Hall is returning to the stage with his ninth tour, dubbed "Velvet Rage." This new era in Hall's entertainment career will incorporate the greatest hits from "Straight Outta Oz," "Forbidden," "Haus Party," and "Femuline," as well as songs from his 13 new albums. Those under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Cats, Coffee, and Classic Cars
Classic cars from Great Autos are set to make their way over to Frisky Business in Palm Springs for the third time this year. If you're looking to spend the morning sipping coffee, spending time with furry friends, and admiring timeless automobiles, this gathering checks all the boxes. Complimentary 10-minute sessions in the cat lounge will be provided.

Palm Springs Card Show
This weekend, Tenth Innin's productions LLC is presenting its Palm Springs Sports Card and Collectors Show. The show will feature 200 vendor tables with an array of sports cards, sports memorabilia, autographs, pokemon, TCG, funko, comics, collectibles and more. On Saturday of the convention, Major League Baseball outfielder Jose Canseco and former National Hockey League goaltender Grant Fuhr will be featured autograph signers.

Pure Intentions Presents: Rose Petal Mirage
Pure Intentions Entertainment is scheduled to bring their color-themed Mirage Series to The Saguaro in Palm Springs this Saturday. The theme for this Rose Petal Mirage poolside celebration is pink. Be prepared to dance the day away in pink along to house music-inspired sounds from Dj's Dr. Romance, Q Baby, Arnie, and Jake B. The event will be hosted by Aaron Bryant from the most recent season of "The Bachelorette."

Mi Chavela Michelada Festival
Cathedral City will host the Coachella Valley's first-ever Michelada festival, Mi Chavela Fest, at Luchador Brewing Company in celebration of Mexican Independence Day. This indoor/outdoor festival will feature michelada vendors, live music, food trucks, artisan vendors, a lowrider classic car show and Live Lucha Libre match. All ages are welcome to this family-friendly event. Those below the age of 18 must be accompanied with an adult. For individuals 21+, a valid ID is required to drink.

Broadway to the Big Screen 'Moulin Rouge!' Screening
The Historic Camelot Theatre at the Palm Springs Cultural Center will continue its Broadway to the Big Screen and Back summer film series this week with a showing of "Moulin Rouge!" Revisit — or experience for the very first time — this 2001 musical drama starring the likes of Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor. Bonus Event: Flick N Float Screening: 'Luca'
The Palm Springs Swim center is set to screen the 2021 Disney Movie "Luca" this Saturday as part of its Flick and Float Series. "Luca" is a coming-of-age story about a young boy experiencing an Italian summer filled with gelato, pasta and endless scooter rides — all while keeping the secret that he's a sea monster.
