Top 10 Takeover dining series: Tickets available for Bar Pigalle event

The 2023 Detroit Free Press/Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers Top 10 Takeover dinner and cocktail series is making its final stop. If you’ve not had the opportunity to dine out at one of the popular events, this is your last chance.

Our popular Top 10 Takeover dining series' last event is Sept. 12 at Bar Pigalle. The popular Brush Park restaurant landed as the No. 1 restaurant on this year’s list of 10 Best New Restaurants and More.

While the restaurant is known for its Pigalle Burger, it’s “no burger joint” as Lyndsay  C. Green wrote and is a “destination for highbrow French cuisine.”

“Bar Pigalle embodies the historic French influence on the city of Detroit, honoring French culinary traditions and making room for adaptations that reflect Detroit’s urban edge,” Green wrote.

It’s also known for its wine and cocktail programs curated by its owners,  award-winning mixologist Travis Fourmont and certified Sommelier Joseph Allerton, according to its website. Both are formerly of Michael Symon’s Roast.

The Bar Pigalle Top 10 Takeover event will have two seatings — at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. — and feature a four-course menu including dessert. Tickets are $125 per person and include tax, gratuity and a $3 donation to Forgotten Harvest, which helps fight food insecurity in metro Detroit. Visit freep.com/top10 for tickets. Here’s the Bar Pigalle Top 10 Takeover menu:

  • Beet Cured Salmon with cucumber, crème fraiche and dill

  • Mushroom Tortelloni featuring local mushrooms, peas, Pecorino and pea shoots

  • Lamb Chop Persillade features braised lamb shoulder, spinach Subric and potato pave

  • Rosemary Apple Tart with bourbon vanilla meringue

At the Top 10 Takeover events, guests will have an opportunity to engage with Detroit Free Press staffers, including Green and food writer Susan Selasky. For those who wish to donate, the Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers will also have a collection box where canned goods and other nonperishable food items can be donated to Forgotten Harvest.
