No. 1 Arkansas (39-10, 19-8 SEC) defeated No. 5 Tennessee (39-13, 18-9 SEC), 3-2, Sunday at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.

Arkansas also won Friday’s contest against the Vols, winning the weekend series two games to one. Tennessee was victorious in Saturday’s matchup as Max Ferguson hit a walk-off home run.

Following Sunday’s game, Tennessee head coach Tony Vitello and Arkansas head coach Dave Van Horn had an interaction on the field.

During Vitello’s postgame press conference, the Vols’ head coach discussed his conversation with Van Horn, saying it was work stuff and off-field topics.

“He had some things to say, thought we did a good job and was an excellent series and all that,” Vitello said. “Probably poor timing on my choice, but brought up some off-the-field stuff that really is not a big issue.”

Vitello came to Tennessee in 2018 from Arkansas. He served as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for Van Horn from 2014-17.

Van Horn has served as Arkansas’ head coach since 2003.
