Tony Shaloub Lands Pre-War Co-Op on New York City’s Upper West Side

BUYERS: Tony Shaloub and Brooke Adams
LOCATION: New York City, NY
PRICE: $3,995,000
SIZE: (approx.) 2,200 square feet, 2 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms

YOUR MAMA’S NOTES: As was first revealed by our celebrity real estate compadres at Luxury Listings, Emmy and Golden Globe winning actor Tony Shaloub shelled out the full $3.995 million asking price for a terraced co-op apartment in a distinguished, neo-Renaissance style Emery Roth-designed building overlooking the Museum of Natural History on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.

The two-bedroom and 2.5 bathroom apartment — we guesstimate it measures about 2,200-square-feet based on figures shown on the floor plan included with online marketing materials— has nine-plus-foot beamed ceilings, elegant herringbone pattern oak floorboards, and original interior doorknobs and hardware. A semi-private elevator landing opens to a proper foyer with cedar-lined walk-in closet and the adjoining living room stretches nearly 25-feet with fireplace and steel-framed French doors to a 62-foot-long planted terrace with oblique views over Central Park. At almost 23-feet long the dining room is plenty large enough to do double duty as a library and a well-stocked butler’s pantry links through to a fairly small but generously windowed galley kitchen. Both bedrooms have ample closet space and en suite bathrooms.

Earlier this year the veteran actor, best known for his role as an obsessive compulsive police detective on the series “Monk” and slated to portray Swiss artist Diego Giacometti in the Stanley Tucci written and directed bio-pic “Final Portrait,” and his wife Brooke Adams, who starred in the 1978 remake of iconic horror film “Invasion of the Body Snatchers,” sold a 1920s Mediterranean villa on a double lot in the leafy, affluent and historic Windsor Square neighborhood in Los Angeles for $3.6 million and they continue to own a 5,506-square-foot residence on not-quite six acres near the town of Chilmark, MA, on Martha’s Vineyard that they picked up per property records in late 1999 for $750,000.
