Tony Hawk Shares Photo from His Son Riley's Wedding to Frances Bean Cobain: 'We Had a Blast at the Wedding'

"I am thankful he found the love of his life," shared the champion skateboarder

Frances Bean Cobain and Riley Hawk have yet to share photos from their October wedding, but the groom's father, Tony Hawk, shared a peek of the couple’s celebration to mark Riley's 31st birthday on Instagram.

In the caption, the professional skateboarder, 55, shared how “thankful” he is that Riley and Frances, 31, found one another.

"Happy 31st to this wonderful, talented young man. I am thankful he found the love of his life and a healthy, disciplined approach to adulthood. And that he is inspiring his younger siblings by example," Tony wrote.

The Birdhouse founder then shared a brief comment about the newlyweds’ celebration. “We had a blast at the wedding and we love you Riley! (Frances please show this to him since he’s no longer in the Insta bubble)," he wrote.

In the accompanying photo, Riley sported a black long-sleeve dress shirt, and Frances wore a white lace cap-sleeve dress with different intricate lace appliques on the bodice.

A rep for Hawk's father confirmed to PEOPLE that he and Cobain married in October.

The marriage certificate, obtained by PEOPLE, lists the couple's wedding date as Oct. 7, with the ceremony officiated by R.E.M. frontman Michael Stipe, Frances’ godfather. Frances is the daughter of Courtney Love and late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain.

Frances revealed her romance with Riley in January 2022 after taking a year-long break from social media. She returned to Instagram to share a carousel of images of moments she said had “brought me a great amount of joy” — including glimpses of her relationship with Riley.

Among the series of snaps, Riley could be seen flashing a big smile while holding a dog dressed in a Christmas-themed costume. In another shot, Frances and Riley cozied up to one another on a boat with his dad Tony and his stepmom Catherine Goodman.

"2021 brought me more into the present moment than I've ever been, which I'm deeply grateful for," Frances captioned the carousel. "I wanted to share a few moments that were captured / created this past year that brought me a great amount of joy. Here's to hoping everyone's 2022 is filled with the authentic connections, a lot of warmth & profound discovery of self 🥂 happy new year 🎆."

Frances was previously married to Isaiah Silva for 21 months after they tied the knot in June 2014.
