Tony Hale’s Ready for More ‘Arrested Development’ Too, So What’s the Holdup?

We all want another season of Arrested Development. The stars and writers have said the same. So what’s the big hold up? If you ask Will Arnett, he’ll say, “I don’t f–king know! I know that everybody is game to do it. We all love doing it. The people responsible for actually putting it together just need to get their s–t together.”

That’s what Arnett recently told The Wrap. And when we had Tony Hale here at Superfan Los Angeles, we had to ask about Arnett’s strongly worded quote. “Oh wow,” exclaims Hale, “I’m by far the guy who has no clue what’s going on. Like, David Cross, Will Arnett, they tend to have some inside information, and hear stuff and all that kind of stuff. I will read it online, and just be like, ‘What?! That’s exciting!’ Or, ‘Aww, I thought it was happening.’ So I have no clue.”

Scheduling is potentially the issue as Jason Bateman was just in Zootopia and Central Intelligence, and has Office Christmas Party coming out in December. Will Arnett is starring in two other Netflix series, BoJack Horseman and Flaked, plus The Lego Batman Movie with Arrested castmate Michael Cera, who was just in Sausage Party and is appearing in the return of Twin Peaks. Jeffrey Tambor has been racking up awards and nominations for Transparent, Jessica Walter is on Archer, David Cross recently did a new season of The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret, and Portia de Rossi has been appearing on Scandal. Did we forget anyone? Probably, but just know that this cast is BUSY!

Don’t lose hope yet, Arrested Superfans, as Mitchell Hurwitz recently told Esquire, “It’ll happen. It’ll definitely happen. Not before the election, but it’s definitely going to happen. I say that because the actors want to do it, the studio wants to do it, Netflix wants to do it, I want to do it. It’s just making it happen. There’s no one resisting.”

Have patience and listen to Tony Hale’s reassuring words: “I have to see where Mitch takes the story. Mitch just throws out things that I would never, ever expect… I’ll never forget me coming up to Mitch and going, ‘Hey, I’m thinking, you know, what if Buster was on Dancing With the Stars.’ And he goes, ‘Yeah, that’s funny, but I think I’m going to have a seal bite off his hand.’ And I was like, ‘That’s better. That’s better.’ And that’s what I miss, the surprises he just throws at you.”
