Tomi Lahren launches athleisure line with company known for gun-friendly leggings

Political commentator Tomi Lahren, known for her support of gun rights, is ready to make her next big statement. A fashion statement, that is.

The 27-year-old Fox Nation host took to Instagram recently to announce her latest project: an athleisure line called Freedom.

"Some have told me I’m too 'controversial' to have an athleisure line, that conservatives should just stick to politics and Trump cheerleading," the pundit wrote on Instagram. "My response? Watch me. Introducing Freedom by Tomi Lahren by @alexoathletica full line available now."

Designed to reflect her patriotism, Lahren's items includes an array of red, white and blue pieces, including leggings, bra tops and more. Some of the clothes are decorated with stars while others come in a camouflage pattern.

Lahren launched her brand with Alexo Athletica, a company known for athleisure that features gun holders.

In a promo video for Lahren's line, the company's CEO and co-founder Amy Robbins explained the inspiration for her gun-friendly products, called "carry-wear."

"After a few bad experiences on a run that left me feeling defenseless and helpless, I quickly realized that I never wanted to not only run in fear again but I never wanted to live in fear again," she said. "The problem was there was no athletic company that was solving this problem to allow women to carry something that would keep them safe but also do it in a stylish way."

Even though Lahren's athleisure does not include a holder for guns, she said the company's reputation resonates with her fans.

"I believe there are a lot of young people out there that really aren't ready to have a gun holster in their pants, but they like the idea behind it." she said in the video. "Whether or not they're gonna put a gun in it, whether or not they're gonna put their phone in it, it really doesn't matter. It's about freedom. It's about the Bill of Rights. It's about constitutional freedoms."

Lahren added she wanted to create a line of clothes people could wear in "a lot of different ways, at a lot of different functions," from the airport to class to the gym.

Even though Lahren's politics may be divisive, she said empowerment should appeal to everyone.

"There's a whole group of women now that are coming together, no matter what side of the political aisle they are on, and saying, 'I want to be empowered.' Empowerment to me quite frankly means being able to do whatever the hell you want and not apologizing for it," she said. "I think for women, you don't have to be one-dimensional. We don't have to hide who we are, what we believe in, what we want to wear. We can be all of those things."

Lahren added she wants her line to appeal to all confident women – even those who disagree with her.

"If you look at some of the pictures that we've taken on our photo shoots and some of the other girls that are in these images, they don't all look like me," she said. "They probably don't all think like me, but they all believe in themselves, and they're all confident in who they are, because, believe me, if you're gonna put stars across your thighs and your butt, you're confident about who you are."
