Young Unmustachioed Tom Selleck’s Soap Commercial Starring Penny Marshall
On Thursday’s The Late Show, Tom Selleck was visited by a blast from his past. It wasn’t his Ferrari from Magnum P.I., it was footage from a commercial that he shot for a soap company before he was famous.
The commercial featured a young Penny Marshall and a young Teri Garr, who became smitten with Selleck’s clean scent.
Selleck reminisced about shooting those commercials, saying, “Everything you did in those days, I’m not sure anymore, when you showered, you had to shower ecstatically.” He mimicked showering like a lunatic would shower.
He added, “One commercial I did was for some cologne, and I had to slap on cologne all over my body, and I had no skin left, so any nipples were pretty painful.”
The Late Show With Stephen Colbert airs weeknights at 11:35 on CBS.
