Tom Sandoval Reveals Self-Esteem Struggles

Tom Sandoval has been front and center on many stages and screens lately, griping about his struggles. Most of us wouldn’t have self-esteem on our list of things he lacks. Dare I say he’s always seemed to have an over-abundance of unearned self-esteem? However, Tom says low self-esteem led him down a path of self-destruction.

Tom’s been on a crusade for redemption ever since Scandoval was blown wide open on Vanderpump Rules. It’s been fueled by sob stories and a victim mentality with some scant apologizing weaved in. His most recent addition to his list of excuses for cheating on Ariana Madix with Rachel Leviss is being insecure.

Tom Sandoval says his emotions and struggles caused him to stop thinking logically

Tom Schwartz and comedian Nikki Glaser were on Sandoval’s most recent episode of his Everybody Loves Tom podcast. Nikki asked Sandy if he thought he’d ever get caught sneaking around with Rachel. He said a lot of words that basically added up to, ‘My brain wasn’t working so I was thinking with my penis.’

Sandy said, “I was way too emotionally wrapped up into it to be thinking logically.” Nikki likened the situation to being addicted to a drug, which he co-signed.

“It’s all I thought about. Literally all I thought about. It’s one of those things where it was out of control. And it’s something I never thought I would ever get wrapped up in. I was like, yeah right. And here I am in this so wrapped up in it and unable to pull myself away from it.”

Being with a ‘young girl’ made Tom feel less insecure

Tom got even ickier. He said he was feeling so low about himself that being with a much younger pageant queen gassed him up. He took advantage so the opportunity didn’t pass him by.

“It had a lot to do with being insecure with myself too. I thought that, how could I ever get a girl like this? This young girl? Beautiful girl. I had such low self-esteem.”

He’s working on himself

Another common theme of the Tom Talking Tour is him outlining the things he’s done to better himself. He’s been sober for a while now. Nikki asked him if he’s also working on his self-esteem. He said he has been “for sure.”

He added that the realization about his low self-image didn’t come until after everything happened. “I was too wrapped up in the moment to think about that. I was so absent from my friends.”
