The pair spent several months in Greece last year, as they teamed up to produce My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3. Wilson spoke about the project at ComicCon earlier this year, expressing her excitement that Nia Vardalos was not only reprising her role but writing and directing the latest film in the franchise.

"It's thrilling to have Nia Vardalos, Academy Award–nominated writer," Wilson said, according to Entertainment Weekly. "Not only in front of the camera as our star, but also behind the camera as our director, guiding our beloved cast for this third film shot on location in Greece."

"My Big Fat Greek Wedding has brought audiences joy for 21 years. I'm so happy that more joy is on the way," she added of the movie, which opened in theaters on Friday.

Hanks and Wilson recently celebrated a special moment — the Sully star's 67th birthday on July 9. Wilson wrote her husband of 35 years a touching tribute on Instagram at the time. "Happy Birthday to this man who is my lover, my best friend, my family, the father of my children," she said, before her post took a playful turn.

"He loves a typewriter just slightly less than me, 😂 (why is there no typewriter emoji?) invents cocktails like Diet Cokecaine (Diet Coke mixed with Champagne) or a Cokearita (Diet Coke mixed with margarita), DJs regularly on @bossradio66, is happiest being surround[ed] by his family and friends, and has committed to telling the stories of veterans and has created his own coffee brand supporting veterans, @givehanx Hanx for our Troops," Wilson continued.

She concluded her message, "He is one of the smartest people I know, has made me laugh everyday for 38 years, can nap anywhere at anytime. Happy happy birthday my love!"

In May, Hanks added yet another accolade to his ever-growing pile — an honorary degree from Harvard. The Cambridge, Massachusetts-based university awarded him an honorary doctorate of arts, and the actor also delivered the school's commencement speech.

Addressing the class of 2023, Hanks joked that he had received a degree "without having done a lick of work, without having spent any time in class, without once walking into that library."

He urged the graduates to shrug off "indifference" and take a stand for what matters.

“Every day, every year, and for every graduating class, there is a choice to be made," he said. "It’s the same option for all grown-ups who have to decide to be one of three types of Americans: those who embrace liberty and freedom for all, those who won’t or those who are indifferent. Only the first do the work of creating a more perfect union, a nation indivisible. The others get in the way.”
