Tom Hanks Remembers ‘Bosom Buddies’ Co-Star Peter Scolari: ‘We Were Molecularly Connected’ (Video)

Tom Hanks took some time to remember his “Bosom Buddies” co-star Peter Scolari last night on “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” where the actor was promoting his upcoming Apple TV+ film “Finch.”

“God bless him,” Hanks said of his late friend. “I’ll miss him every day.”

Scolari died last month after battling cancer for two years. He was 66.

“I don’t know how many people, like, truly do change your [life] when you cross paths with them, but he and I met, we picked up the scripts and we started screwing around — and I actually thought, ‘Oh, this is it. This is how this works,” he continued. “This is like a hand inside a glove.”

Together, the duo drove directors crazy over the next two years on Paramount Studios Stage 25.

“We were molecularly connected,” Hanks said.

Hanks had plenty of stories to back that up. Watch the video above. The talk turns to Scolari at the 11-minute mark. After rolling an old clip from the 1981 season of their sitcom, Hanks got pretty emotional.

In addition to “Bosom Buddies,” Scolari starred in many films and television series, including “Newhart” and “The Good Fight.” In 2016, he won his first Emmy Award for playing Tad Horvath, Hannah’s (Lena Dunham) father, on HBO’s “Girls.” Scolari also frequented the stage, appearing on Broadway in “Hairspray,” “Wicked,” “Sly Fox,” “Magic Bird” and “Bronx Bombers.”

Hanks is certainly not the only former colleague to remember Scolari fondly. “I knew that Peter was sick, but his death still comes as a great shock,” Bob Newhart said at the time of Scolari’s passing. “We were friends and colleagues for over 40 years. Julia and Peter, as a vacuous couple (Michael and Stephanie), were an essential part of the success of ‘Newhart.’ In life, he was a fantastic person, and it was a joy to work together. He will be sorely missed and his passing at 66 is much too early.”
