The Tampa Bay Buccaneers jersey worn by Tom Brady during his final NFL game is expected to become the most valuable football jersey ever sold at auction when it hits the Las Vegas Grand Prix next month.

On Thursday, Sotheby's announced that Brady's no. 12 jersey will be made available at the official auction of the Las Vegas Grand Prix on Nov. 17, presented by RM Sotheby's and Wynn Las Vegas.

Brady's final game-worn jersey will be offered at an estimated $1.5 - 2.5 million, which would surpass Joe Montana's San Francisco 49ers jersey (worn in two Super Bowls) that was sold for $1.2 million this year, according to USA Today.

The auction will also include Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton's 2013 Mercedes-Benz F1 W04. Hamilton drove the vehicle, estimated to sell for more than $10 million, during his inaugural year for Mercedes-Benz.

In a statement, Brahm Wachter, Sotheby’s Head of Streetwear & Modern Collectables, said, "There are only a few athletes who are universally accepted as the greatest in their sport: Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, Muhammed Ali, Wayne Gretzky, Babe Ruth. For the National Football League, it’s Tom Brady. Worn at the very last game of his tenured career, this historic shirt is a tangible reminder of Brady’s unparalleled legacy, and as such, is arguably the most coveted NFL jersey to ever come to auction."

Wachter added, "We're delighted to partner with RM Sotheby's in showcasing a jersey of unparalleled significance on the auction stage in Las Vegas. Presenting two star lots that are making their auction debut and formerly belonging to arguably two of the greatest athletes of all time, the event is certain to be among the year's most anticipated and renowned in auction history.”

Brady officially confirmed his retirement in February. "I'm retiring. For good. I know the process was a pretty big deal last time, so when I woke up this morning I figured I'd just press record, and let you guys know first," an emotional Brady said in a video on X (formerly Twitter) at the time.

He began his NFL career when the New England Patriots selected him in the sixth round of the 2000 NFL Draft.

Brady led the Patriots to a championship against the then-St. Louis Rams in the 2002 Super Bowl. Brady went on to win five more with the franchise before winning his seventh and final Super Bowl ring with the Buccaneers in 2020.
