Motor racing has gained another G.O.A.T. with six-time N.F.L. Super Bowl winner Tom Brady being announced as an official partner of the new Porsche 963 FIA World Endurance Championship Hypercar customer team.

Following the recent move by another six-time champion, N.B.A. legend and fellow greatest of all time Michael Jordan who formed the 23XI NASCAR Cup team, Brady will lend his name to the HERTZ-sponsored JOTA sports car team that will run the $3.9 million Porsche 963 prototype at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the other stops on the international FIA WEC calendar.

Through his new BRADY apparel line, the recently retired quarterback will outfit the team’s staff and have his last name—his brand ID--carried on the 220mph machine’s rear wing end plates alongside major branding from Hertz and Singer Vehicle Design.

Star athletes like Brady and Jordan are just the latest to play a major role in racing; former N.B.A center Brad Daugherty—a rival to Jordan rival on the court and now in NASCAR—took home stock car racing’s biggest prize earlier in February when his JTG/Daugherty Cup team won the Daytona 500.

Elsewhere in the NASCAR paddock, all-time N.F.L. rushing leader and three-time Super Bowl winner Emmitt Smith can be found with the Jesse Iwuji Motorsports team he co-owns with Iwuji, the driver and former Naval officer.

Among our favorite sports celebrities from the past, wind the clock back to the mid-2000s and future N.B.A. hall of famer Carmelo Anthony, whose first name was put to good use in an IndyCar team ownership arrangement with Hemelgarn Racing, saw driver P.J. Chesson compete with ‘Car Melo’ emblazoned across the car’s sidepods.
