Offscreen, the ladies of Today are as thick as thieves. That tight-knit bond especially comes in handy when in need of parenting support.

For Mother's Day this year, Savannah Guthrie, Hoda Kotb, Jenna Bush Hager, Dylan Dreyer and Sheinelle Jones commemorated the occasion by shooting a special segment for the NBC morning show's May 10 episode. Together, the group reminisced over the special bond they share as working mothers.

"We're moms, we all have young kids. We work together and we lean on each other as moms. I mean, there's not a day that we're not trading parenting tips or venting," Guthrie, 52, says, noting how they're all "sisters."

Dreyer, 42, chimes in, saying, "We all kind of grew up in this mom squad of, 'What are we doing?', and none of us really know, but when you lean on your friends, you figure it out."

"It's kind of fun to take it in for a second," Kotb, 59, then explains. "I feel like we're all sprinting, dead sprinting and exhausted. I think we're all on this wheel. And suddenly, now, you get to pause and reflect and take it in and talk about motherhood. Because sometimes, you just do it."

Breaking down specifically how they "lean on each other," Jones, 46, says there are even "practical things" that allow them to do so.

"The other day on the show, we did a topic about cell phone use and kids and social media and getting our kids off cell phones," she recalls. "Well, I'm stuck in the middle of it. Savannah sent me this article. I gave it to Kayin, I'm like, 'Look at this. Look at this link.'"

In thinking about the stresses of motherhood, Bush Hager, 42, says she knows she "can relax" when she arrives at work, where she gets to be around her gang of Today show moms. Noting how "none of us are perfectionists," she additionally acknowledges: "There's no Pollyanna sort of like, 'Oh, you didn't take your kid to school?' We applaud each other when we allow ourselves to have grace. When we are like, 'Oh wait, I'm exhausted.' It's not like somebody's like, 'Why are you so tired?'"

Summing up the group's dynamic as a whole, Guthrie says that "actually talking to each other and having each other and venting" is beneficial to deepening their bond.

"Generations of women have done that. We lean on each other for advice and wisdom, but we also lean on each other to just vent, to blow off some steam. I think that's how we do it together," she adds. "It's actually really nice because I don't think it was always the case that you'd have these big and demanding jobs and every single person you work with is a mom and is dealing with the exact same thing. So not only do you not have to hide it or pretend that it isn't challenging, we have this built-in network of support."
