‘Today’ Looks Back On 40 Years of Election Day Coverage

The Today show took a look back at 40 years of election day coverage beginning with Tom Brokaw, and his silky smooth voice, alongside Jane Pauley in 1976. They touched on every election since, including the introduction of an automatic voting machine in 1980, and the 3 legitimate candidates in 1992. In 2000, Katie Couric was right when she said that they could end up still now knowing the winner the next morning. And in 2008, we made history by electing the first African American president.
