Renowned country music icon Toby Keith, who passed away at the age of 62 on Monday after bravely facing stomach cancer, had left an indelible mark during a 2018 visit to El Paso.
Keith made a stop at the iconic L&J's Café, savoring the Mexican combination dish rich with green chile. The beloved restaurant, standing near Concordia Cemetery since 1927, is still busy to this day, and one reason is because the food is so good.
"Mr. Toby Keith with wife and friends ... What a pleasure it was having y'all in for dinner," the restaurant posted back in 2018 on its Facebook page.
Toby Keith died after battling stomach cancer, according to his website and a tweet. Keith was diagnosed in the fall of 2021 and disclosed to the public in June 2022.
Keith revealed his diagnosis in a June 2022 Instagram post, noting he "spent the last six months receiving chemo, radiation and surgery."

As Keith gained popularity in the 1990s, his favorite football team had won three of four Super Bowls, XXVII, XXVIII and XXX. For the team's 1992 appearance on "Monday Night Football," he took to the field to record a music video for "Should've Been a Cowboy."
The hit song was played 3 million times on radio stations, making it the most-played country song of the 1990s.
