Tlaib: 'I'm not going nowhere, not until I impeach' Trump

WASHINGTON – Rep. Rashida Tlaib, one of the four Dempocratic congresswomen of color who have been the target of President Donald Trump's racist "go back" attacks, said Monday that she is not going anywhere until the president is impeached.

"I’m not going nowhere, not until I impeach this president," she said while speaking at the national NAACP convention in Detroit, receiving a standing ovation.

Trump and "The Squad," which is comprised of Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts and Ilhan Omar of Minnesota and Tlaib of Michigan, have been in an ongoing feud for a week after the president tweeted that the four progressive Democrats should to "go back" to their countries.

Speaking in Detroit Monday, Tlaib, a member of a Democratic "Squad" of four progressive congresswomen targeted by Trump also said: "You are all the Squad, trust me. If you support equity, you support justice, you are one of us."

All four congresswomen are U.S. citizens and three of them -- including Tlaib -- were born in the U.S. Omar immigrated to the United States from Somalia over 20 years ago and is a naturalized citizen.

Tlaib and Omar are the only two Muslim women in the House of Representatives.

Trump has repeatedly doubled down on his criticisms of the four congresswomen. On Monday, Trump called The Squad "a very Racist group of troublemakers who are young, inexperienced, and not very smart."

The four Democrats have called Trump's language and rhetoric racist. The House last week voted to formally condemn Trump's "go back" tweets as racist.

This is not the first time Tlaib has pushed for Trump's impeachment. Hours after being sworn into Congress earlier this year, the Michigan Democrat said of Trump during a progressive event that "we're gonna go in there and we're going to impeach the motherf****r." And she has been a champion of the idea of impeaching Trump on a regular basis since.

During her remarks Monday, Tlaib also said that "The Squad" is "beyond just the four of us" and that "we need bold action."

"The Squad is all of you," she said. "I can tell you, you are all the squad, trust me. If you support equity, you support justice, you are one of us."
