NEW YORK — Tituss Burgess is making a showy return to Broadway.

The Emmy-nominated actor, who previously starred in the musicals “Jersey Boys” and “The Little Mermaid,” will step into the role of Harold Zidler in “Moulin Rouge! The Musical” this fall.

Producers announced Wednesday that the 10-time Tony Award-winning show will welcome Burgess for a limited engagement from Oct. 10 through Dec. 17. He fills in for Eric Anderson, who will return to the role on Dec. 19.

The 44-year-old vocal powerhouse, who gained prominence on the television series “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt,” was last seen on Broadway in the 2009 revival of “Guys and Dolls.” His other TV credits include Apple TV’s “Schmigadoon,” the Netflix film “Dolemite Is My Name” and the 2021 Aretha Franklin biopic, “Respect.”

Continuously playing to sold-out crowds at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre, “Moulin Rouge!” is an adaptation of Baz Luhrmann’s 2001 blockbuster film starring Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor.

Helmed by Alex Timbers, the musical spectacle features a catalog of pop hits from a span of decades, including an updated spin of Labelle’s 1974 classic “Lady Marmalade.”
