In Dream Big, Live Small, we visit tiny home-dwellers, discovering why they choose to live this way, how they manage it and the possibilities to do things like travel, learn and grow that have resulted from downsizing so significantly. In the long run, living small is really about living big.

Tiny home living can be stressful if you’re planning to downsize and sell a majority of your possessions. But sometimes, the payoff is huge.

In this episode of Dream Big, Live Small, you’ll hear from Bradley Langenberg who built his tiny 230-square-foot home in Jacksonville, Florida by himself at only 22-years-old.

“The main reason that I wanted to downsize and move into a small space was financial,” he said. I didn’t like paying rent every month, seeing that money go down the drain, and I wanted to put my money toward something that would last longer.”

When completely designing and building his tiny house himself, Bradley centered the design around the kitchen because he loves to cook.

“I have eight-plus feet of counter space,” he said about his tiny kitchen. “And at the hardware store, I bought the biggest sink I could find because I need somewhere to put all my dishes before I wash them. Another thing I have is my pantry, which utilizes the 3.5-inches between the wall space.”

At just 22-years-old, Bradley feels proud of his tiny house living.

“I built the 230-square-foot tiny house during college paying cash the whole way,” he said. “So it feels pretty good to graduate at 22 and be able to call myself a homeowner.”
