Tina Turner tribute concert to be presented at Arcadia Theater

May 16—WINDBER, Pa. — An internationally known performer is set to bring the music of a rock and soul icon to an area stage.

Karen Durrant as Tina Turner will present her "Simply the Best" show at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Arcadia Theater, 1418 Graham Ave., Windber.

Durrant is considered to be the world's No. 1 Tina Turner tribute artist.

She recreates the excitement, look and performance of Tina Turner with endless high-energy recreating the illusion, both physically and vocally, of the queen of rock 'n' roll.

Durrant has performed for audiences in excess of 10,000 people and has established herself as one of the most sought-after tribute artists in the world.

"We are excited to bring her to the Arcadia Theater because this is nothing we've ever had before," said Christine Strugala, assistant to the director at Arcadia Theater. "We're always trying to attract new age groups and audiences and bring a wide variety of acts to the theater, so we think this is an act that will appeal to families."

During her rendition of Tina Turner, Durrant's personality will captivate audience immediately as she enters the stage and performs hits such as "Proud Mary," "River Deep Mountain High," "Private Dancer," "What's Love Got To Do With It," "We Don't Need Another Hero" and "Better Be Good To Me."

"You will hear a wide variety of Tina Turner songs because there have been so many over the years," Strugala said. "This is one of the shows we wish we were able to offer a dance floor at the theater."

On stage with Durrant with be a band along with backup singers.

"It's going to be very entertaining, and you'll feel like you're at an actual Tina Turner show," Strugala said. "It's nice to be able to offer this in the small town of Windber, and it draws people from outside of the area, too.

"Not only because it's affordable, it's also quality entertainment that you can have right here in your backyard."
