Tina Fey teases classic Broadway 'Mean Girls' musical to Andy Cohen

After dishing a few details on the Mean Girls musical during an interview last week with Howard Stern, Tina Fey further teased the upcoming project to Andy Cohen on Tuesday’s episode of Watch What Happens Live.

Cohen prodded the actress for information on the adaptation of the hit 2004 film, which Fey is working on with her husband, composer Jeff Richmond. Cohen fired off a speed round of questions, getting Fey to deny her desire to reprise the role of Ms. Norbury onstage, though she did confirm that songs featured in the project are inspired more by classic Broadway than pop music.

Fey also expressed disinterest in having the film’s original cast, including LIndsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, and Amanda Seyfried, star in the musical, giving Cohen a succinct “No” when asked about reaching out to them for potential involvement.

When it came to the project’s completion, however, Fey was far more elusive. “2027. Whenever Hamilton closes,” Fey said with a laugh when Cohen asked her when fans can expect to line up for tickets. “We’re going to wait it out.”
