“NBC has long been the home to two of the funniest people on the planet — Tina Fey and Amy Poehler — and we didn’t want to wait any longer to share the great news that they’ll be hosting the Globes once again,” said Paul Telegdy, chairman of NBC Entertainment.

While plenty of fans are on board with Fey and Poehler reuniting on the Golden Globes stage for the first time in over five years, there are many fans who are upset to see Gervais, who recently hosted the 2020 award show, take a backseat.

“What?! If it’s not Ricky don’t even bother televising it,” one fan wrote on Twitter in response to NBC’s announcement, while another added, “I kinda think Ricky Gervais MADE the show this year!!!”

Still, Fey and Poehler are expected to deliver in 2021, and have the support of Lorenzo Soria, president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, who is sure that they will bring the laughs for next year’s show. “There’s no denying that Tina and Amy’s comedic chemistry is infectious,” he said. “We can’t wait to see the dynamic duo return to the Golden Globes stage.”

The date for the 2021 Golden Globe Awards has not been confirmed as of yet but is expected to be announced later this year.
