Timothee Chalamet As Dylan? Yes.

Timothee Chalamet is a near lock to play Bob Dylan in his upcoming biopic, but how great are his singing chops?

The movie is currently called Going Electric, and it's expected to cover the earlier days of Bob Dylan's career, documenting his transition from acoustic to electric guitar.

According to a source who spoke to Rolling Stone, the movie begins very early in Dylan's life:

“It starts at 19 when he arrives in New York City. And also heavily involves the rest of the rest of the folk scene at the time.”

Other musicians like Joan Baez, Pete Seeger and Woody Guthrie will also appear in the movie, but it's unclear who would play them in the film.

There's Always Room For Another Music Biopic

Chalamet's resemblance to Dylan is quite obvious, so the actor has that part covered.

"I've never heard of this young man but he is obviously very good looking and I can see how he could make a convincing Dylan once in costume/ make up. It will be an intriguing biopic for sure and I just hope the lad will pull it off as Dylan deserves a great movie about his life."

Two Great Guys

Chalamet needs to be able to sing as well -- that's the million dollar question. Dubbing would just be wrong, and we hope the film doesn't go in that direction.

"So far, this is the closest resemblance I've seen between them. Question is, can he do the voice? Because that voice is very distinctive. As is the different voice Bob has now that he's older. And who plays Joan Baez?" asked @MichaelPacholek.

Deadline writes that Chalamet has been taking lessons on the acoustic and electric guitars, but did not specify whether Chalamet would sing in the film.

Chalamet reportedly has the blessing of Bob Dylan himself, but it's unclear whether that means his vocals are up to par as well.

A Close Resemblance

Visually comparing Chalamet with a young Dylan, it's easy to see why the actor could pull this off. But Dylan is a legend, and is voice is very distinctive. No one can replace Dylan, so the best Chalamet can do is emulate him in the film and try to conjure his musical aura.

In High Demand

Chalamet is being lauded for his performance as Laurie in the film Little Women, and he's already booked to appear in The French Dispatch, directed by Wes Anderson. And he's also expected to be in Dune, which comes out this year.

If that's not enough, we'll see him debut in the London theatre production of "4000 Miles" in April. He's everywhere.
