According to Production Weekly, Oscar nominee Timothée Chalamet has reportedly signed on to star in the Netflix remake of The Last Adventure, based on Robert Enrico’s 1967 French-Italian film. The project hails from All Quiet on the Western Front director Edward Berger.

This would mark Chalamet’s latest collaboration with Netflix after previously starring in the streamer’s original movies The King and Don’t Look Up. The Call Me By Your Name actor will next be seen in Legendary’s Dune: Part Two and Warner Bros.’ Wonka prequel.

What to Expect in The Last Adventure?

The Last Adventure remake will be directed by Berger. It centers around “a down-on-his luck adventurer, who sails around the world in search of a missing ship full of treasure from the Iraq War,” reads the synopsis. The original film, based on José Giovanni’s novel, starred Alain Delon, Lino Venture, and Joanna Shimkus. Further details about the Netflix adaptation are still being kept under wraps.

Berger gained recognition for his acclaimed directorial work on 2022’s war drama All Quiet on the Western Front, which received an Oscar nomination for Best International Feature Film. Besides directing and writing, the German-Austrian filmmaker has also produced TV shows including The Terror, Patrick Melrose, All My Loving, and Your Honor. He is currently preparing for the upcoming premiere of his British thriller Conclave, which will star Ralph Fiennes, John Lithgow, Stanley Tucci, and Isabella Rossellini.
